ARCMECH explores the Autonomous Machine Economy: infrastructure where AI agents coordinate robots, execute physical tasks, and transact autonomously. This documentation describes the concept, the architecture and the components of the system.

Machines That Think. Machines That Transact. The human defines the objective, the AI agent coordinates execution, the machine performs the physical work, and ARC provides the settlement environment.

The system is layered: an identity layer for machines and agents, a coordination layer for task discovery and assignment, an execution layer of physical machines, and a settlement layer on ARC with USDC as the unit of account.

Every machine can carry a persistent identity binding its capabilities, reputation history and wallet. Identity makes machines discoverable and accountable counterparts in the network.

AI agents are the coordinators of the machine economy. They decompose objectives, discover capable machines, negotiate terms and authorize settlement. Specializations include planners, dispatchers, brokers and verification oracles.

Tasks are the unit of work: a structured objective with requirements, a reward and a verification condition. Machines claim tasks through agents; completed work is verified before settlement.

The machine economy is a circular flow: machines consume compute, data, energy and services, and produce work, data and services in return. Payments close the loop between consumption and production.

Machine-to-machine payments are programmable transfers between machine wallets, authorized by agents and settled on ARC. Micropayment-sized transfers make per-task, per-query and per-kWh commerce viable.

Reputation accumulates from verified work: task completion, attestation results and settlement history. It routes demand toward reliable machines automatically.
